On December 21, the Russians launched a heavy artillery attack on Nikopol, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to homes and infrastructure.
On the morning of December 21, at approximately 9:00, the Russians initiated an attack on Nikopol, employing heavy artillery against the civilian population. This hostile action resulted in casualties, with fatalities and one individual sustaining injuries.
The attack caused significant damage to private residences and commercial structures, including the disruption of a power line. Tragically, lives were lost, and rescuers managed to extract an 86-year-old man from the debris of a collapsed house.
Additionally, on December 20, the Russian military launched attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles and heavy artillery on the municipalities of Nikopol, Myrivska, Pokrovskaya, and Marganetskaya. Near a bus stop, two young men, aged 21 and 22, suffered injuries and received necessary medical assistance.
The aftermath of the shelling in Nikopol included damage to private homes, agricultural buildings, vehicles, and a bus stop. Buildings had their roofs destroyed, walls shattered, and windows broken. In Myrivska Hromada, debris caused damage to a farm building and a car.
In response to these acts of aggression, criminal proceedings have been initiated for each crime under Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigations are currently underway to address these violations.
The head of the district military administration, Yevhen Yevtushenko, explained that the women received shrapnel injuries incompatible with life and died on the street, on the air of "Suspilne. "Sprovit".
He also reported that by the morning of December 21, 64 civilians had been killed and 295 wounded as a result of shelling in the Nikopol Oblast. In the district, approximately 700 skyscrapers were destroyed and damaged, 3.5 thousand houses, as well as kindergartens, schools, churches, mobile communication towers and other infrastructure facilities.
