Florian and Feodora: what were the names of the children in 2022 in Ukraine

In the first half of 2022, children were most often called by popular names. Among the rare names are Domicelia, Theona, Lord and Elvis. This is reported by the Informator.

Most often, girls were called: Anastasia, Alice, Anna, Victoria, Veronika, Daryna, Emilia, Eva, Zlata, Sofia, Solomiya, Maria, Marta, Milana, Yana.

Names were chosen for boys: Artem, Artur, David, Danilo, Dmytro, Zakhar, Lev, Luka, Maxim, Matvii, Marko, Oleksandr, Timofey.

Newborn girls were also called by rare names: Agatha, Adele, Amura, Adeoina, Amira, Gabriela, Domicelia, Zola, Katalina, Milada, Nastasya, Stefania, Talvina, Teona, Tessa, Timea, Tamila, Uma, Feodora.

Rare and unusual names for boys were: Adam, Arai, Arkhip, Benjamin, Bohuslav, Elvis, Ilariy, Ilyas, Kuzma, Lord, Moses, Marcel, Matfiy, Mert, Milan, Omelyan, Tamerlan, Thor, Tristan, Florian.

According to the Ministry of Justice, during the first half of 2022, 104,905 small Ukrainians were born. The war made adjustments in the choice of names for babies. Girls were sometimes called Javelins, and boys Bayraktars.

In general, the majority of Ukrainians prefer traditional names when choosing names for their babies, the department noted.
