In Ukraine, it has been proposed to ban men from leaving the country for three years after the end of the war. Vadym Denysenko, a former adviser to the head of the Ministry of the Interior and executive director of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, came up with such an initiative. "Otherwise, we simply will not survive as a nation", he wrote on the social network. His post caused a wave of indignation in the society.
Vadym Denysenko predicts that after the opening of the borders, as before the war, a large part of the male population may leave Ukraine.
“I am sure that even after the war, the ban on men traveling abroad should be extended for at least another three years. Otherwise, we simply will not survive as a nation" he wrote on the social networking site.
According to Denysenko, the travel ban should not apply to all men.
I especially want to emphasize: should there be legal opportunities to travel (for treatment, including PTSD, for military personnel, especially those who have undergone combat operations, should they be allowed to travel abroad, on business trips, etc.)? Of course. This should be clearly stated in the regulations. But opening the borders in one fell swoop, as it was before February 24, 2022, is a loss plus a million”, continued the former adviser to the head of the Interior Ministry and added that currently there are no mechanisms in Ukraine that would facilitate the return of citizens home.
A few hours later he added:
"Let's be honest, if there are no such restrictions, then at best 2-3 million Asians will come here in the next decade. So at least 7-8 percent. Ukraine will come from these latitudes and in 20 years all 15-17%”.
“We just have to answer one question: are we for human rights or for the preservation of the nation. If you want to be more pathetic: are we in favor of keeping things as they were before 2/24/22, or are we going to build Israel?" the former adviser wrote.
Denisenko was told that he "overheated in the sun".
“It is very hot in Kyiv. And in such weather it is not recommended to drink alcoholic beverages. And we understand why. Some people's hearts can't take it. And others brains, which leads to the idea of not releasing men even after the war for another 3 years,” wrote financial analyst and blogger Serhiy Fursa on Facebook.
“It's a big mistake. Such a policy shows the inability of the ruling elite to offer attractive conditions for the return and development of the nation. Such a policy discourages the return of those who have plans to do so and accelerates the process of those who have been hesitant to leave or not." – journalist Taras Semenyuk commented on Denysenko's post.
Other users also expressed their indignation: “Better to ban women too. And it's forever. Like in the USSR”, “Excuse me, but on what grounds do you want to do this after the end of martial law?”, “A new Gulag for everyone”, “Banning citizens' freedom through communism”.
