Joint checkpoints are planned to be created on the Ukrainian-Polish border. They will make it easier and much faster to cross the border. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach.

As Serhiy Derkach explained, now those who cross the border have to pass control from both Poland and Ukraine. A single checkpoint will make crossing the border much faster.

Ukraine and Poland will create single checkpoints

“We are working with the Polish side and will also work with the Hungarian and Slovak sides on the creation and signing of an agreement on a common border. This is when we have a single checkpoint and we do not need to go through two of them separately, on the Ukrainian and Polish sides Colleagues from Poland, for example, will work on our territory, or ours on theirs. This will significantly speed up the process,” said Derkach.

According to him, the parties should agree on the final text of the agreement next week. The ratification process is also ahead. The first checkpoints where a single border will be introduced will be determined soon.

According to Derkach, unified border control is planned to be introduced with Hungary and Slovakia as well.

Crossing the border with Poland: a mobile application was created for truck drivers

Truck drivers crossing the Yagodin-Dorogusk international checkpoint on the border of Ukraine and Poland will now be able to use the eCherha application on their phone. Previously, it was possible to sign up for an electronic queue only on the website, the press service of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure reports on Facebook.

The convenience of queues has already been appreciated by thousands of truck drivers. The project was officially launched in December of last year. During this time, almost 55,000 trucks signed up for the electronic queue and passed through the checkpoint.

“Ukraine is systematically working on the digitalization of the border crossing procedure. The unique free service allows drivers to plan their trips, and therefore save time and money,” said Anatoly Komirny, Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure.
