More than a million trees were planned to be planted in various districts of the region this spring. However, the foresters have already overcome the task.
On April 25, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk region Serhiy Lysak together with his team and foresters planted a new coniferous forest. More than 13 thousand seedlings were planted on the territory of two hectares. Common and Crimean pine were used for this. This is reported with reference to the Dnipro OVA press service.
In general, 5% of the territory of Dnipropetrovsk region is forested. The task of the President and the "Green Country" program initiated by him is 8, Serhiy Lysak noted. - Planted on the territory that experienced severe fires at the beginning of the 2000s. The fire destroyed many trees here. So we are restoring it.

Ultimately, almost 300 hectares of forests will be planted. And this is 2 million plantations, - explained Oleksandr Kravchenko, director of the Eastern Forestry Office of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine". - We plant different types of trees. Mostly pines. But there are also ash trees, acacias and oaks - ordinary and red.
After planting, foresters take care of the pine trees. They thin out. Remove those that lag behind in growth, or shade other trees from the sun. This painstaking work has been going on for years.
