"It was hell": a resident of Energodar told about the shelling of the city by the occupiers

September 1 was a black day for a resident of Energodar and her husband. The woman frankly wrote about the horrors in the city, which the occupiers staged. This is the real cry of the soul of a Ukrainian woman. Her name has been withheld for security. Because the woman lives and works in an occupied city. The woman sent her confession to the mayor of Energodar, Dmytro Orlov. Without edits and changes, in the original language, the publication appeared in his Telegram channel.

"We are alive. Yesterday was hell. Today is silence. Even at night. The last shooting was around 10 p.m. We still have to count and mourn all the dead, stretch the film and insert plywood over all the broken windows, wave goodbye to everyone who left yesterday and will leave in the coming days... We hope that yesterday's horror will not be repeated.

They fired from 5 in the morning with different guns, from different locations. Plus a thunderstorm over the city. At first, they beat the station, industrial zone, garages and estates.

There is no more forest. He was burned from all sides. At 6 o'clock, the thunderstorm stopped and began to hit the city. A man is on the phone with his employees. Everyone writes who sees and hears what and how they understand it. They were going to work, but the man stopped them until the circumstances were clarified.

At 10 o'clock it quieted down a bit and some people ran here and there. Who is out with the dogs, who is on business (although what could be the business in this hell?!).

The first official reports about the destruction and the dead have arrived. Then it started again. Helicopters were flying over the city and shooting. Around two o'clock in the afternoon, tanks entered the city. We didn't see them ourselves, but they drove along Kurchatova Street to the water intake and hid somewhere there.

Then the commission arrived, and the show went silent. We ate and went back to the corridor - pulled out the cabinet with canning so that we could sleep there together. It turned out that there is so much preservation! Not expected.

The whole evening they lay on the bed with mobile phones - the children were calling incessantly, the news. Such "trifles" as stopping unit 5, de-energizing unit 2 and reducing the load on unit 6 were no longer frightening. The water disappeared for a short time. Then she appeared. The night was quiet. Quite quiet.

The man went to work. I'm home. Cats walk in a harness so they can be attached to a leash. All. I don't complain and I don't expect anyone to feel sorry for us. There is a war going on and people are dying every day and every hour. Every minute someone's house is being destroyed, cars are burning, for which people have collected money for years.

Already 191 days. Peaceful days, they are so alike. They are so similar to each other: work, housework, an evening in the family circle... It is not remembered, it merges into weeks, months, years of a peaceful life. Something pleases, something saddens, most of it goes unnoticed. And here is the war. And that's all. And it will never be the same again! And there comes a belated understanding of how wonderful we lived, even when it was boring and it seemed that everything was not going exactly as we would like. Now everything is wrong! And you understand that before it was very good! But this is gone. And every day is scary.

I know that the people of Mariupol lived in hell for months, Kharkiv was under fire for six months. Many cities and villages... they simply do not exist. Next to that, our hell yesterday is just a terrible episode.

But. There is one small but. All this, all this cross-firing from everything and all of it went on without an enemy, without any resistance from the population - just a fire show to intimidate the IAEA commission and for a video clip in the racist media.

There was no subversive group, no drones, no guerrillas, and not even a single group of residents who wanted to "open" the eyes of the same commission. Our city has been under them for six months. And, knowing that it is lying on a giant bomb, it will not move. I see a special horror and inhumanity in this! Now that's for sure."
